Wall Paintings 2013

Opened Saturday June 29 2013 – Saturday September 7, 2013

The Irvine Fine Arts Center is pleased to present the Wall Painting 2013, the third in a series of exhibitions that premiered at the Irvine Fine Arts Center (IFAC) over a decade ago.  During several weeks before the opening of the show, artists will create murals on the walls of the IFAC.  Patrons are encouraged to watch these artists at their creative best.  Artists will also be available to answer questions during this time.

The artists participating in the exhibition are Michael Arata, Joshua Aster, Claire Baker, Barbara Berk, Kristin Calabrese, Jamison Carter, Judy Csotsits, David DiMichele, Carlson Hatton, Andy Kolar, Flora Kao, Susan Logoreci, Mara Lonner, Siobhan McClure, Adam Novak and Katie Ryan.

The artists in this exhibition all have their own idiosyncratic methodologies to their art practice and will transform IFAC’s gallery spaces into a distinctive exhibition. The artists will be using varying approaches in creating their wall-works including, painting, drawing, collagraphy, silkscreen, rubbings, collage and other mixed media approaches.

The Center’s many different sized and shaped walls create a great opportunity and challenge for each artist.  Some artists have chosen small walls while other artists have chosen larger walls to create their work on, each appropriately scales to fit their own artistic method. IFAC’s unique architecture binds the exhibition together but also allows for each wall painting to be individually viewed.

The Wall Painting exhibition will be featured every other summer at the Fine Arts Center following its great tradition of contemporary art shows by local, regional, national and international artists.
